Save Our SBS strongly opposes the policies of One Nation and as expressed by Senator Pauline Hanson that multiculturalism is a flawed policy, Australia needs to be monocultural, and SBS should be closed down.
At her 17 June 2026 National Press Club address, the senator declared that Australia “cannot be a multicultural society” and must instead become a “monocultural” nation.
Pauline Hanson pledged that a One Nation government would abolish SBS totally and heavily restrict the ABC to a paid subscription service.
She argued that Australia’s current immigration policies have triggered a crisis, of which “the utterly flawed policy of multiculturalism” is at the centre. Hanson stated that while Australia is a multiracial society, it must operate under one cultural umbrella and be strictly monocultural.
She asserted that the SBS would be entirely abolished, declaring that “the internet has overtaken the need for it”.
During the press conference, Hanson was pressed by SBS chief political correspondent Anna Henderson regarding these threats to the network. In response, Hanson doubled down on her policy, telling the journalist to her face that she would be “out of a job” if One Nation is elected to govern.
