Become Involved

You can become involved with Save Our SBS at a number of levels, either by simply participating in one of our campaigns and or subscribing to our occasional eNewsLetter update. There is no charge for that.

If the your time is limited, you might simply choose to donate to us.  

However should you wish to become more actively involved you might wish to join Save Our SBS as an Associate of the organisation.

If you wish to become an active volunteer you are strongly encouraged to sign up as an Associate. You can of course also sign up as an Associate even if you do not wish to volunteer your time.

Associate of Save Our SBS

To become an Associate of Save Our SBS you need to make an application. You can apply on line via the link below. Once your application is received, you will be asked to pay a fee of:

Full time employed:	$30
Concession (being all others):	$15

The above fees are to the end of the financial year of payment except if made between 1 May and 30 June in which case the fees carry through to the end of the following financial year.

What Happens Next?

Once we read your application and it has been approved, we will send you an email confirming that your application has been received and accepted by us. An invoice will be included in our email to you for the appropriate amount. As we are a volunteer organisation, there may be a delay of about two or three weeks before you hear from us. If you have not heard from us one month after applying, it is because you either supplied the wrong email address, or, your filter settings were too strong. Other Important Information

Admittance to become an Associate is at the discretion of the Committee of Management of Save Our SBS Inc. Associates are not full Members of Save Our SBS. As such the Model Rules of  Save Our SBS Inc do not provide for Associates to have voting rights at the Meetings as specified in the Rules. Although there is no provision for Associates to cast a vote, the Committee of Management of Save Our SBS Inc may invite a person who is not a Member to attend and speak at meetings. Generally we have adopted the pragmatic approach of including Associates in discussions and at Meetings where an interest has been expressed to attend because we value the important contribution that Associates offer. Associates are not mentioned in the Rules. Under the Rules, the Committee of Management is allowed to and required to oversee the organisation and as such may create positions, such as Associates.

Only Members have full voting rights.

Joining as a Member

To become a Member, the Rules of the Association require that a person who wishes to become a Member of the Association must be nominated by an existing Member who must sign to “personally” knowing the nominated person. The most practical way to become a Member is to sign up as an Associate and become involved as an active volunteer so that over time you become “personally” known by an existing Member. If an Associate wishes to later become a Member, the Associate should endeavour to get to know at least one existing Member “personally” so that that Member, may then be in a position to nominate that Associate to become a Member.

The Committee of Management prefers that a person be an Associate for at least 12 months before applying to become a Member.

The Committee of Management is allowed to make policy consistent with the above.
